CHAPTER 11
DATA-LOG
11.1 The Data-log Option
Data logging records the Engine Data at a nominal rate of ten times per second while the ECU
is online. This data-log is useful for recording the system's behaviour in any state of
operation. It aids trouble-shooting as all the ECU's working parameters are recorded faster
than they can be read on the Engine Data Page.
To access the Data-log Option press Alt – O to open the Options menu then scroll to the Data-
log menu item and press enter. This opens a Data-log submenu from where all data-log
options are selected.
11.1.1 Setting Up the Data-log Page
Before beginning a Data-log the data page can only display eight parameters which are
selectable through a simple menu. To access the configuration menu press

instructions online.
11.1.2 Creating a Data-log
You can choose to record the Data-log either in memory or directly to disk. To record to
memory, press

in the Data-log sub-menu. This will record engine data continuously for
about 30 seconds and will then stop automatically. To log data for more than 30 seconds at a
time, use logging to disk as described below.
Alternatively, you can Data-log directly to disk by pressing
'
'
'
'
in the Data-log sub-menu. The
software will ask the user to supply a filename for the data-log file. When data-logging to
disk, you are limited only to the free space left on the disk. The Data-log consumes about
11kbytes per minute, on the disk supplied there is over 20 minutes of Data-log space. The
disadvantage in Data-logging in this manner is that there may be small "gaps" in the Data-log
of a few seconds as blocks of information are written to disk, if Data-logging to hard disk,
these gaps are insignificant.
To stop the Data-log press the Space Bar. If memory data-logging is used, the screen will
return to the Data-log sub-menu. If disk data-logging is used, there will be a moment's pause
as the file is closed.
The M aps being used at the time of the Data-log should be saved to disk. It is advised to do
this before the Data-log is taken. Saving the M aps makes sure that all the engine information
(including the set-up pages) are saved to disk. If the Data-log is viewed OFFLINE at a latter
date, the M aps will need to be loaded so that the programming software knows the set-up of
the ECU and can calibrate the data properly.
