Trouble Checks
Trouble Here's what to try:
Cassette with safety tab removed does not start to
play automatically
No stereo sound during playback
Stereo audio too noisy
S-VHS recording not made or no sound during
playback
Tape plays over and over
Jog shuttle arrow buttons will not function
Tape continues forward or reverse search during
jog shuttle operation
Set AUTO PLAY ON/OFF feature to ON. Details are on page 22.
TAPE PLAYBACK: HI-FI/MIX/LINEAR feature must be set to HI-FI to hear
stereo sound during playback. See page 21.
Stereo signal is weak. Set RECEPTION: STEREO/SAP/MONO feature to
MONO.
Press one of the TRACKING up or down buttons to minimize the noise.
Check position of S-VHS AUTO switch on VCR. See page 38.
A tape with S-VHS must be used to make S-VHS recordings.
Make sure the component's S-VIDEO connectors are connected using an S-VHS
cable.
Be sure to also connect the audio cables. The S-VHS cable carries only video.
Check setting of AUTO REPEAT ON/OFF menu. See page 22.
Press JOG SHUTTLE button to turn on jog shuttle buttons. Indicator will light.
Indicator light off. Pressing any other button during jog shuttle operation will
turn off jog shuttle. Press JOG SHUTTLE to turn jog shuttle back on.
Press PLAY’PAUSE on the VCR or PLAY on the remote to return to normal
playback.
Press ▼ or A to place VCR in pause mode.
