NOTE: The Shave Plate and Skid Shoes on the bottom of the snow thrower are subject to wear. They should
be checked periodically and replaced when necessary.
Skid Shoes
NOTE: There is a variety of Skid Shoes available for
medium frame snow throwers. Most of them are
reversible. See Figure 7.1.
To remove the Skid Shoes:
1.
Remove The Hex Flange Nuts which secure the Skid
Shoe to the snow thrower.
2.
Slide the Skid Shoe off of the carriage bolts
3.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the opposite side.
4.
Install the new skid shoes by following the previous
steps in reverse order.
NOTE: Leave the nuts loose until the skid shoes are
adjusted.
5.
Adjust the Skid Shoes by following the procedures in
the Skid Shoe Adjustment section of this chapter.

Skid Shoe Adjustment
To adjust the skid shoes:
1.
On flat ground place a 1/16” shim under the shave
plate.
NOTE: The shim needs to run the length of the shave
plate.
NOTE: A piece of cardboard work fine for shimming the
shave plate. See Figure 7.2.
2.
Loosen the nuts on the skid shoes.
NOTE: On track units, place the transport lever in the nor-
mal operation position.
3.
Push the skid shoes down until they rest on the
ground.
4.
Tighten the skid shoe nuts.
