The serial connection is a 4-wire EIA-485 (RS-485) full-duplex channel. EIA-485 is a multi-drop version
of the EIA-422 specification, and is fully compatible.

The data format follows the ES-Bus specification in that the data transfer is asynchronous, 8 bits per byte,
even parity, 1 start and 1 stop bit, for a total of 11 bits, 38.4K baud.
In all cases, the message structure is fully compatible with ES-Bus. In general, all messages will be
acknowledged by an ACK if successful or NAK if an error occurred.
