Miscellaneous Circuits

Speaker

The implementation of the speaker output complies with the ETX® Specification. Implementation information is
provided in the ETX® Design Guide. Refer to the documentation for additional information.

Battery

The implementation of the battery input complies with the ETX® Specification. Implementation information is
provided in the ETX® Design Guide. Refer to the documentation for additional information.

In compliance with EN60950, there are at least two current-limiting devices (resistor and diode) between the battery
and the consuming component.

I2C Bus

The external I2C provided via GPIOs on ETX® Connector Pin 16 and 22 on X4 offers full MultiMaster and Clock
Stretching support. See the tables below for measured values on ETX®-DC with BIOS MNP1R112.

BIOS Setup Selection

Measured I2C Speed

You can access the I2C Bus via JUMPtec’s Intelligent Device Architecture (JIDA) BIOS functions.

For additional information, refer to the ETX® Design Guide, I2C application notes and JIDA specification which are
available at the Kontron Web site.

SM Bus

System Management (SM) bus signals are connected to the SM bus controller, which is located in the southbridge
(Intel 82801GBM) device. For more information about the SM bus, please see the System Management (SM) Bus
section in the Appendix A: System Resources chapter.
