Symptom
Possible Causes and Remedies
Cannot display Favorite Stations
•
You must set up Favorite Titles in the Favorite Station guide before favorite
stations can appear (see page 40).
Ratings limit, spending limit, or
pay per view lock not working
properly
•
Check Locks &Limits. Then make sure the system is locked (see page 57).
Cannot access Locks & Limits screens
•
The system must be imlocked before you can make changes to the Locks &
Limits (see page 58).
Cannot unlock the system
•
Make sure you entered the correct passcode. If you have lost or forgotten
your passcode, call your service provider.
Audio track is not available
•
Not all programs offer audio tracks (see page 64).
Language of audio track is incorrect
•
Check the default language setting. The program provider may not
broadcast all of the languages shown in the Default Audio pop-up (see
page 64).
Cannot record programs on VCR
Make sure the VCR is connected correctly (see page 10), and that the VCR is
set to receive the signal from the Digital Satellite Receiver (see page 25).
If you are using the Timer & Rec feature, make sure the program you are
trying to record does not conflict with any locks or limits that have been set.
If you are using the Timer & Rec feature for pay per view programs, you
must purchase these programs in advance.
Make sure you are not trying to record a pay per view program that is copy
protected by Macrovision. Call your service provider(s) for details.
One Button Scheduling/IR Blaster
is not working
Make sure the IR Blaster is connected and placed correctly. See “Connecting
the IR Blaster" on page 11.
Check the manufacturer code for your VCR (see page 25).
Make sure the VCR is connected correctly, and that the VCR is set to receive
the signal from the Digital Satellite Receiver (see page 25).
Access Card problems
Make sure the Access Card is inserted properly (see page 13).
Call your service provider(s).
Remote control does not work
To operate your TV or other audio/video equipment, make sure you've set
up the remote. See "Setting Up the Remote Control" on page 65. Note; The
codes may be erased when you remove the batteries. Set up the remote
control again if you've removed or replaced the batteries.
Press the appropriate FUNCTION button (SAT, TV, VTR and/or CABLE) for
the equipment you want to operate. These buttons flash to indicate which
equipment the remote control is set to operate.
Check to make sure the batteries are inserted correctly, and that the batteries
are not dead (see page 7).
SAT-A50 Only: If you are having problems with the RF function, check that
the RF Antenna is connected properly and that you are using the remote
control within operating range of the Digital Satellite Receiver (see
"Selecting RF or IR Remote Control Reception (SAT-A50 Only)" on page 31).
Make sure the Digital Satellite Receiver and remote control are using the
same security code.
Try removing the batteries and reinserting them without touching any
buttons on the remote control.
Audio Noise
If you connect the DIGITAL OUT terminal (SAT-A50 Only) to a device that is
not Dolby Digital compatible, set the Dolby Digital Option to OFF (page 64).
Not all optical terminals on audio systems are Dolby Digital compatible.
"Frozen" picture or display
Press both the GUIDE and ARROW DOWN buttons on the front panel of the
receiver at the same time.
