1. Save and close any open files and exit any open programs.
2. To begin the undocking process, determine the docking status of the computer:
If the computer is turned on and the undock-request button light is a steady green, and the eject button light
off, then the computer must be prepared before undocking. Perform steps 2 to 4.
If the computer is turned off or in power management mode, and the undock-request button light is off and the
eject button light is green, then the computer is ready for undocking. Perform only steps 3 and 4.
3. Press the undock request button. The button light turns from solid green to blinking green, indicating that the
computer is preparing for undocking (either shutting down or going into power management mode, depending on the
power option settings on your computer).
When the computer is ready to be undocked, the undock-request button light turns off and the eject button light turns
green.
4. Ensure that the slide lock is in the unlocked position (toward the back of the expansion station).
5. Press the eject button to release the computer from the docking connector and lift the computer away from the
docking device.
Removing and Installing a PCI Expansion Card
To install a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) expansion card in the expansion station, perform the following steps.
NOTE:
The expansion station supports one 3.3- or 5.0-volt, half-size or smaller PCI expansion card.
NOTICE:
Do not touch or handle anything inside the expansion station except as instructed in the following steps. If
you touch other objects, you may damage the expansion station and may void your warranty.
1. Save and close any open files, exit any open programs, and then shut down the computer.
2. Undock the computer and leave the slide lock in the unlocked position.
3. Detach all cables—including the AC power cable—from the expansion station.
4. If the computer is attached to the optional monitor stand, remove the expansion station from the monitor stand. For
more information, see the documentation that came with the monitor stand.
5. Remove the PCI expansion-card cover on the back of the expansion station:
