Replacing the Modem
CAUTION: Before you perform any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product
Information Guide.
NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically
touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.
1 Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer" on page 7.
2 Follow the instructions in "Removing the Modem" on page 35, as applicable.
NOTICE: The modem connectors are keyed to ensure correct insertion. If you feel resistance, check the
connectors for proper alignment.
3 Connect the modem cable to the new modem.
4 Connect the modem to the system board.
Align the modem with the screw hole and press the modem into the connector on the system board.
5 Replace the M2 x 3-mm screw and secure the modem to the system board.
