7.5 OD600
This assay is useful for monitoring growth of bacterial cultures. When you press OD600,
SmartSpec Plus will display the current conversion factor and offer you the choice of
accepting or modifying it.
• If the displayed conversion factor is acceptable, press Enter. Otherwise, press
Select to toggle from Yes to No and press Enter.
• Use the number keys and the exp key to input the new conversion factor and press
Enter.
SmartSpec Plus is now ready to collect OD600 readings. For best results, you should
first zero the SmartSpec Plus by inserting a cuvette with media (without cells) and
pressing Read Blank.
Cells/ml:
Cells/ml = A600 * Conversion Factor * dilution factor
Default conversion factor is 5 x 10 8 cells/ml
