Viewing Performance Counter Data
The values that are written to the performance counters can be viewed with the Windows
Performance Monitor. On Window, the performance monitor is launched from Start |
Programs | Administrative Tools (Common) | Performance Monitor. To view counters from
within the Windows Performance Monitor, do the following.
1. Select the Add to chart command from the Edit menu.
2. From the Object drop-down, choose the appropriate object as identified by the service
display name of the interface.
3. From the Counter list box select the counter to be viewed. To get a detailed description
of the selected counter, click the Explain>> button.
4. To add the selected counter, click the Add button.
Historizing Performance Counter Data
The data that are written to performance counters can be written to Historian with the
Historian Performance Monitor Interface. There is a FULL version and a BASIC version of
this interface. The basic version has four limitations:
It must run on the same machine as the Historian Server.
It will collect data for a maximum of 512 points.
Only one instance of the interface is allowed.
Data can be collected for performance counters only on the local machine.
The full version does not have these limitations. For additional information, please see the
Historian Performance Monitor Interface Manual.
