1.

Turn off power to the I/O chassis.

2.

Place the module in the plastic tracks on the top and bottom of the
slot that guides the module into position.

3.

Do not force the module into its backplane connector. Apply firm,
even pressure on the module to seat it properly.

4.

Snap the chassis latch over the top of the module to secure its
position.

5.

Connect the wiring arm to the module.

6.

Make wiring connections to the wiring arm as indicated in the next
sections.

To connect your PLC-5 backup system, you:

connect the 1785-BCM modules
make remote I/O connections
make Data Highway Plus network connections

You make the connections to the 1785-BCM module’s wiring arm
(cat. no. 1771-WG). Figure 3.5 shows an overview of the connections.

Important: Note that the connections described in the following
paragraphs refer to the 1785-BCM module default configuration, that is
Channel 1A is configured for Data Highway Plus and Channel 1B is
configured for Remote I/O scanner mode.
