• Oiling the slot cover (4,
Fig. 55
).
To do so, first move the specimen head all the way upwards by turning the handwheel, apply a few
drops of cryostat oil (Type 407) to the slot cover; then, move the specimen head all the way down
and apply a few drops of cryostat oil.
Distribute the oil by turning the handwheel or using a clean tissue.
• In case of visible pollution (such as dust), clean the air inlet opening (5,
Fig. 56
) of the condenser
on the bottom right-hand side of the instrument using a brush, broom or extraction cleaner in the
direction of the louvers.
Do not carry out any repairs on your own as this will invalidate the warranty.
Repairs may only be carried out by qualified service engineers authorized by Leica.
The germicidal UV lamp is a simple and safe means of minimizing pathogens, which consider-
ably reduces the risk of infection.
Nevertheless, UV light disinfection cannot replace chemical disinfection of the cryochamber at
regular intervals.
UV light disinfection is effective only on those surfaces that are directly illuminated.
