1 Introduction
1.4.3 Description
The Wtrans T03.G1/G2 Ex can be used under consideration of the relevant standards and reg-
ulations for the mobile or stationary temperature measurement in Ex areas zone 0 (20), zone
1 (21), or zone 2 (22).
The device is intrinsically safe equipment and suitable for the device group IIB "flammable gas-
es" (a typical gas is ethylene) and for the device group IIIB "non-conductive dust".
The measuring insert is equipped with a Pt1000 temperature sensing element according to DIN
EN 60751, class A in 3-wire circuit. The operating temperature range of the temperature sens-
ing element (medium temperature) is -30 to +260 °C.
The device has an admissible ambient temperature of -30 to +85 °C. Through the system man-
ufacturer, the heat input to be calculated under Chapter 1.7 "Heat input through protection tube
/ protection tube fitting", page 13 through the protection fitting into the case is to be considered.
For use in atmospheres with combustible dust the maximum surface temperature is T 130 °C.
In a gas atmosphere, the use in temperature class T4 is admissible.
The temperature measuring values are transmitted wirelessly to the receiver of the measuring
system outside of the Ex area. The measured values are displayed at the receiver and are
available in digital form on the RS485 interface as well as analog outputs. Optionally, with 2
relays outputs different alarms can be signaled.
The radio frequency of the Wtrans measuring system is 868.4 MHz. This frequency is almost
impervious to external interferences and allows transmission even in a rough industrial envi-
ronment. When using the antenna wall holder (installation is only possible outside of the Ex ar-
ea) with the 3 m antenna cable for the receiver, the open air range is 300 m.
The case of the Wtrans transmitter is oil and acid resistant; it has protection type IP 67. The
protection fitting is made out of stainless steel. The basic type 902930/55… with a M12 × 1 plug
connection may only be connected to an associated JUMO Pt1000 RTD temperature probe
with the connecting cable for the ex area.
Only the approved lithium battery with 3.6 V, 2.2 Ah may be used for the voltage supply of the
Wtrans transmitter.
