1.2 Intended use
The device described in this manual is meant for the measuring of temperatures in industrial
environments as specified in the technical data. The device can be used in potentially explosive
areas zone 0 (20), zone 1 (21), or zone 2 (22). If a suitable protection fitting is used, zone sep-
aration zone 0 (20) / zone 1 (21) is possible.
Another use or one that goes beyond the specified use – with respect to use in potentially ex-
plosive areas – is considered as not being in accordance with regulations.
Liability for resulting damages will not be assumed.
Any and all changes to the device causes the Ex approval to become null and void!
The device is built according to the relevant standards and directives as well as to the applica-
ble safety regulations. Nevertheless, incorrect use may lead to bodily injury or property dam-
age.
To avoid danger, the device may only be used:

For the intended use
• When in good order and condition
• Under consideration of this operating manual
Installation regulations
If electric equipment is used in systems and ambient conditions with higher safety requirements
are the case then the obligations subject to the applicable installation regulations according to
EN 60079-14 Potentially Explosive Atmosphere – Part 14: Project planning, selection, and for-
mation of electrical systems is to be considered among other things.

Ex approval becomes null and void when non-intended use of the device or non-compliance
with the safety requirements of this operating manual is the case.
