3.0 DESCRIPTION
Pull-down clamps are single-acting hydraulic
cylinders designed for applications where a piece
part needs to be secured against multiple datums.
Independent horizontal and vertical movement
achieves a true “pull-down” effect. Clamp may be
pipe connected or manifold mounted.
Solid mounting of the clamp body prevents any
upward movement of the piece part.
The
clamping jaws are attached to the clamp and
counter-hold bases using a bolt and rubber
coupling, providing a “free-float”
sliding
movement. The hydraulic piston on the clamping
unit has a flexible link to the jaw to prevent side-
loading during actuation.
The guard on the ECH-52 and ECH-202
eliminates unnecessary pinch points, as well as
keeping contaminants out of moving parts. Guard
is removable so that any contaminants that get by
chipguard may me cleaned out.
4.0 MOUNTING
4.1 Pipe Connection
For pipe connection, mount along groove and on
fixture with two mounting bolts. Use bolts with a
DIN property class of 8.8 for models ECH-52 and
ECH-202. (Bolts are supplied for through-hole
mounting.) The edge of the mounting surface
must extend past where the jaw and body
interface (see Figure 1).

CAUTION: Do not exceed the torque
rating of the mounting bolt. (Refer to
Specification table for maximum
torque rating of the mounting bolts.)
CAUTION: The pull down stroke of
the clamping jaw must be limited by
a fixed stop.
4.2 Manifold Mounting
The mounting surface for the pull-down clamps
and counter-holds should always extend past the
front corner of the base (see Figure 1, Mounting
Dimensions.) Without this fixed stop, the rubber
spring could become damaged.
For manifold mounting use same grade 8 bolts
used for pipe connection. See Figure 2 for
manifold mount dimensions.
