Important Features for Sports
Content ID
You own your content, so make sure you get credit every time it is viewed on YouTube! YouTube’s Content ID
system is an important tool for many sports channels. It claims millions of views that would have otherwise
gone uncounted. Make sure that you turn on Content ID for every video that you upload to YouTube. It’s just
one click, but it could drastically improve your channel’s performance.
Content ID is especially important for channels who are also rights holders of game or match footage. This is
the content that is most frequently uploaded by unauthorized channels, so activating ContentID is critical.

Live
Features that allow live streaming are now available to some sports channel partners. This is a great new
self-service tool that allows you to connect with fans in a novel way. Whether it is live streaming a sporting
event, a press conference, or bringing commentary directly to your viewers, live events have the potential to
excite your viewers in a unique way.

Sports Category Channel
The YouTube homepage showcases a list of category channels, including a sports-specific channel. While
individual partners cannot influence what appears on that channel, it is another great way for viewers to
discover sports content.
