2.1 Preparation for Installation
The HarnessEye/web installation procedure is described here.
Installing the Management Proxy
1. Install the SNMP service in the network.
2. Install IIS.
3. Install HarnessEye/web.
Installing the Agent function
1. Install the SNMP service in the network.
2. Install SNMP agent software for the RAID controller.
3. Install HarnessEye/web.
Installing the Manager function
1. Install Internet Explorer V5.5 SP2 or more
2. Install HarnessEye/web.
To obtain information on a RAID controller (RAID configuration information), the RAID controller
card, driver, and SNMP agent software must be installed in advance. For the installation procedures,
please refer to the respective manuals.
To install SNMP, follow the procedures specific to each Operating System. For details of TCP/IP
and SNMP, please refer to manuals for each Operating System.
To install IIS, follow the procedure specific to each Operating System.
If the Operating System in the Management Proxy machine is a WindowsNT, please install IIS V4.0
by using a Option Pack.
For details of IIS, please refer to manuals for each Operating System.
To enable an Agent to output SNMP traps or display Agent information on the Management Console,
the SNMP properties must be properly set up in advance.
· Settings for installation of the Agent or Management Proxy function:
Select the check box for “Send authentication trap”. Select “public” for “Accepted community
names” and select “READ CREATE”, “READ WRITE”, for Authority. Finally, select the option
button for “Accept SNMP packets from any host”.
If you want to select “Accept SNMP packets from these hosts”, write the IP address of the PC in which
the Management Proxy function is installed.
