Connection between Windows2000 Server and Windows2000
Professional
2.1 Connection
Configuration
In this configuration, the Windows 2000 Professional machine is a guest and the Windows 2000 Server
machine is a host.
Note: It is assumed that Active Directory and DNS have already been installed.
2.2 Host Configuration Procedure
Opening Routing and Remote Access
From the Start menu, select [Routing and Remote Access].
Enabling Routing and Remote Access
Right-click the server name to enable it and then click [Configure and Enable Routing and Remote
Access]. In this example, “ITP4” is assumed to be the server name.
Routing and Remote Access Server Setup Wizard
In the [Welcome to the Routing and Remote Access Server Setup Wizard] window, click [Next].
Common Configurations window
In the [Common Configurations] window, select the [Virtual private network (VPN) server] check box,
and then click [Next].
Remote Client Protocols window
If the protocol needed for the VPN client is found in the protocol list displayed, select the [Yes, all of
the available protocols are on this list] check box, and then click [Next].
If the necessary protocol is not found, select the [No, I need to add protocols] check box, and add the
necessary protocol.
