Chapter 2
Installing the PowerBlade PBC18
This chapter explains how to install the chassis on a desktop or in a 19-, 23- or
25-inch rack.
Verifying Package Contents
Make sure the following items are included in your package. If any item is
missing or damaged, contact your Allied Telesyn sales representative for
assistance.
❑ One PowerBlade PBC18 Chassis
❑ One rackmounting kit
❑ Four protective rubber feet (for desktop use only)
❑ This quick install guide
❑ Warranty card
Preparing the Site
Be sure to observe the following guidelines when planning the installation of
your chassis.
❑ Make sure that the chassis’ power is accessible and cables can be
easily connected.
❑ Cables must be away from sources of electrical noise such as radios,
transmitters, broadband amplifiers, power lines, fluorescent or
halogen light fixtures.
❑ Air flow around the chassis and through its vents on the side and back
should not be restricted.
❑ If you are using the chassis on a desktop, make sure it is placed on a
level, secure surface.
❑ Do not place objects on top of the chassis.
