Case two: Boom bracket
A customer producing boom brackets used a tailored boring bar
with positive inserts for his application. He experienced vibration,
poor surface finish and short insert tool life, even with low cutting
data. The component was positioned horizontally and the operation
included interrupted cuts.
By changing to a CoroBore 825 finish tool, the cutting data could
be increased as well as the component quality. The customer could
double his output, going from 600 components in 2011 to 1,200 in
2012.
