When initiated, OSM checks for any connected paths that do not have a backup and warns you of
any connectivity loss that could result from continuing with the action. OSM also directs you to the
online help for precautionary guidelines for handling the hardware. See:

Removing the FCSA

Installing the Replacement FCSA

Once you confirm that the FCSA has been replaced, OSM presents these options for bringing up the
paths associated with this adapter:

Bring up and balance. This option makes the -P (primary) and -M (mirror) paths active.

Bring up only. This option starts the path only if the other path is already up.

Leave down.

Responsive Test

Test Verify

Verifies basic functionality of the FCSA.

Removing and Installing a Fibre Channel ServerNet Adapter

Removing the FCSA

Note: Whenever you handle a FCSA, follow standard operating practices to avoid damage to the

equipment. Review the standard operating practices documented in the Fibre Channel
ServerNet Adapter Installation and Support Guide
.

Find the group, module, and slot of the IOAM in which the FCSA is installed.

1.

Tag the Fibre Channel cables connected to the FCSA with physical labels, preferably at both
cable ends. The labels should include:

A description of the equipment and connector to which the cables are to be connected

The slot location of the FCSA to which the cable is connected

2.

Disconnect the Fibre Channel cables one at a time by squeezing the plastic retaining clip at the
end of the cable and gently pulling.

3.

Protect the equipment from electrostatic discharge:

Place an antistatic table mat on a flat horizontal work surface near the IOAM enclosure.

a.

Put on an ESD wrist strap.
