10. Install the extended shipping plate.
11. Install the shipping brackets and shipping plates (on page 19 ).
12. Install the server into the chassis (" Installing the server into the chassis " on page 31 ).
13. Connect the peripheral cables.
14. Power up the server (on page 15 ).
Processor option
To install the component:
1. Update the system ROM.
Locate and download the latest ROM version from the HP website (
http://www.hp.com/support ).
Follow the instructions on the website to update the system ROM.
2. Power down the server (on page 15 ).
3. Remove the server from the chassis (on page 15 ).
4. Place the server on a flat, level work surface.
5. Remove the shipping brackets and shipping plates (on page 17 ).
6. Remove the SFF hot-plug drive cage (" Remove the hot-plug SFF drive cage " on page 16 ).
7. Remove the GPU cage (on page 20 ).
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: To prevent possible server malfunction and damage to the equipment, multiprocessor
configurations must contain processors with the same part number.
CAUTION: The heatsink thermal interface media is not reusable and must be replaced if the
heatsink is removed from the processor after it has been installed.
