Troubleshooting Examples for MLMM GUI
Operations
Example 1
PROBLEM:
Why is the MLMM GUI labeling process hanging?
SOLUTION:
Normally, this is caused by tape drives that are not defined to MLMM correctly. There
has to be a match between the way the tape drives are in the library and the way they
are configured in MLMM.
If your tape drives in the library are:
•
$TAPE1
•
$TAPE2
•
$TAPE3
If you have MLMM configured as:
•
$TAPE2
•
$TAPE1
•
$TAPE3
Then labeling will not work and it will hang. The way to get out of this, if you are not
sure how they are plugged in, is to drag a tape to the top tape drive, wait and see what
tape drive the system sees the tape on, write that name down and continue on with all
the tape drives. Next, reconfigure MLMM with the tape drives in the correct order the
way the system saw them.
Example 2
PROBLEM:
Labeling is not working, the queue just sits there and nothing happens...
SOLUTION:
Labeling with the MLMM GUI will only work on a system with tape drives attached to it.
Whatever system the MLMM GUI is attached to has to have a tape drive in the library.
To configure a Client MLMM for your system, refer to Sections 2 and 3 in this manual.
