Responding to Nonconforming fulfillment

Each goal within a service request contains a list of constraints that describe the requirements that
must be met by a fulfilling volume service. If at any time a goal is fulfilled by a volume service that
does not meet all of the requirements, the goal and storage request are in a Nonconforming state.

The primary action to take for a Nonconforming fulfillment is to view the fulfillment window to see
what requirement is not being met. It may be appropriate to change the configuration of the volume
on the array, change the configuration of the entity in the catalog, or find a volume service that meets
the requirements of the goal and fulfill the goal with that volume service instead. For more information,
see

Modifying properties of an existing goal

” on page 59 and

Fulfilling a goal

” on page 59. In

some cases, the service request may be Nonconforming even though the individual fulfillments look
like conforming matches—for example, if the volume is inactive or a presentation conflict exists on
the EVA. In this case, troubleshoot the entities associated with the fulfillment. It may also be appropriate
to leave the fulfillment in the Nonconforming state, if the fulfillment has been reviewed and determined
to be satisfactory.

To bring a volume service into conformance with the requirements of the goal:

Using automation—Automation can alter the presentation (setting, LUN number, host mode, or
WWN initiators) of a volume to bring it into conformance with the goal.

Manually—The storage administrator can manually change the configuration of the volume on
the array or on the entity in the catalog to make the volume conform to the goal.

To find a volume service that meets the requirements of the goal and to fulfill the goal with that service
volume instead:

1.

From the Navigation tree, click on Service Requests, then click on one of the service requests
listed in the Navigation tree to display the goals within that service request in the List View pane.

Any Nonconforming fulfillments are marked with a red circle with a white X through it in the
Status column.

NOTE:

Click the Filters Nonconforming button above the List View pane to show only the
Nonconforming fulfillments.

2.

Click the preferred Nonconforming goal in the List View pane.
