2.12 Start the New Flock.
Starting a new flock allows clearing the histories from the previous flock. Perform the following steps at the start-up
of each flock: Perform this step separately for each scale.
This menu can quickly be accessed using shortcut key # 7.
• Use the arrow keys to select the "7. Start Flock" from the main menu
then press the right-arrow key.
• Select the desired scale then press the right-arrow key.
• Use the adjustment buttons to adjust the following parameters:
Start Age:
Initial age of the birds.
Start Weight:
Initial bird weight.
Note: A range for starting weight would be from .07 to .10 lbs.
To get the exact number see note below.
Type of Bird:
Select the proper type of birds: Breeders, Broilers or Turkeys.
Start Flock:
Press the "+" key to start the new flock. The "Yes" answer is displayed for 10 seconds then switches to
"No". This means the new flock has been created. Histories from the previous flock have been cleared and
the message "Flock started today" is displayed.
Start Weight Note:
To get the exact weight of your birds have someone to take several birds and place them on the
scale one at a time. Record the actual weight on the bird scale. To find this press the short cut key
#2 for scale 1. Press the down arrow until you see actual weight. From the main menu chose scale
1 and press the right arrow key two times then press the down arrow until you see actual weight.
After there has been several birds placed on the scale one at a time use the average weight of those
birds as you starting weight you enter. If the weight you enter is within 25% of the bird’s actual
weight, the bird scale will start weighing the birds. If the weight is outside 25% of actual weight
the bird scale will not see the bird weight as a good number and not record it.
While in the installer mode a Target Weight will be displayed in the Scale information screen.
Do not change this number. It is derived from the start weight that was entered in the start flock
area. This is not your ending target weight. If you enter something here other than what is
displayed at the starting of your flock the scale will not function properly. This number will
change over time with the weight of the birds. The Target Weight is the average for the day where
as the average weight is the average of the last two hours. Again this Target Weight will only be
displayed in the installer mode. You will not see it on a normal basis.
