CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
FMD
Taking proper care of the FMD (Face Mounted
Display) is important for optimal functioning of the
equipment. Occasionally, the FMD lens should be
wipedwiththelintfreelenswipethatisprovided.This
can be done to remove fingerprints from the lenses.
You can also use a lens cloth (e.g., from a camera
shop).Papertowelsorhouseholdclothsmayscratch
ordamagethelensesandshouldnotbeused.Avoid
exposing the FMD to liquids. Cleaning solutions
should not be used to clean the FMD. Do not use
Isopropyl alcohol or solutions containing alcohol to
cleanthelensesorplasticpartsontheFMD.Youcan
also use a camera pressure canister to occasionally
blowoutdirt.
Youmaywanttocleantheinsideofthehelmetocca-
sionally.BesuretodosowithoutexposingtheFMD
toanyunacceptablematerials,asexplainedabove.
TheFMDshouldbekeptinacleananddrylocationout
ofdirectsunlight.Avoiddirtyorsandyenvironments,
asthesecanleadtoscratchingofopticsanddamage
theFMDmechanicaladjustments.
MONITOR
The monitor is a touch screen and can be damaged
by poking it with any object other than the pad of
your finger. Use care when cleaning screen. Use
only a soft dry cloth (cotton or flannel). Avoid
chemicals and solvents (alcohol, benzine, acidic or
alcazine solvent cleaners). Avoid granular or abra-
sive cleaning agents.

COMPUTER
The computer runs the clock of a Complementary
metal–oxide–semiconductor
(CMOS)
battery
(CR2032). It is recommended that CMOS battery be
replacedevery24months.

• In case of a drained battery an additional step
might be necessary to power up the unit. See
Troubleshooting Section.
