Selecttheorangelanguagemenuiconagaintoexitthe
language menu. The system stores the language
selection and will automatically start up in the same
languagethenexttime.
3. Measurement Units
The blue unit menu icon brings up the measurement
system.Touchthedesireduniticon.Selecttheblue
icon again to exit the measurement unit menu.
Selecting Metric or Imperial converts the user inter-
face into the corresponding measurement system.
The system stores the measurement selection, so it
willautomaticallystartupinthesameunitofmeasure-
mentthenexttime.Thesystemusestheunitsshown
inTable B.1.
4. Menu
Theredmenuiconallowsthestudenttoshutdownthe
system. If the user selects shutdown, a submenu
appearsaskingtheuseriftheyaresurethattheywant
to shut down the system. This prompt prevents the
userfromaccidentallyshuttingdownthesystem.Ifthe
user selects “Yes”, the VRTEX
® MOBILE will shut
down.
THIS METHOD SHOULD ALWAYS BE USED TO
SHUT DOWN THE VRTEX
® MOBILE. Failure to do
this could cause damage to the system.

Aftertheuserenterstheirnameandallselectionsout-
linedabovehavebeenmade,thegreeniconisselect-
edtocontinuetosetupprocess.
6. USB Indicator
ThecircularUSBiconintheupperrightcornerofthe
screenindicatesthepresenceofaUSBmemorystick
inthefrontofthemachine.Atranslucenticonindicates
no USB memory stick is present. A green icon indi-
catesaUSBmemorystickisinsertedintothefrontof
themachine.

Overview
Thetheoryiconhasbeenimplementedtoassistusers
withadditionalcontent,imagesandinformationrelated
totheareaoftheapplicationwhereyouareworking.
SeeFigureB.22.Thisinformationcanbeaccessedby
selecting the yellow theory icon. When selected, the
iconallowsthestudenttoaccessvisualanddefinition-
alinformationaboutthedifferentweldingtermsbeing
usedoneachscreen.Weldingtermsthatcorrespond
witheachpagearelistedintheboxesontheleft-hand
sideofthescreen.Whenfinishedreviewingthetheo-
rydata,thestudentcanselectthetheoryiconagainto
exitthescreen.
