VRTEX ® MOBILE
USER INTERFACE OVERVIEW
The VRTEX ® MOBILE is a virtual reality arc welding
trainer. This computer based training system is an
educationaltooldesignedtoallowstudentstopractice
theirweldingtechniqueinasimulatedenvironment.It
promotestheefficienttransferofweldingskillsfromthe
classroomtotheweldingbooth,whilereducingmater-
ialwasteandenergyconsumptionassociatedwithtra-
ditionalweldingtraining.
POWERING ON
1.Pressingandholdingthegreen circular button, on
thefrontofthemachine,for5secondspowersup
theVRTEX
® MOBILEsystem.SeeFigureB.1.
NOTE: The green power button does not power
down the system. Select Log Out and
Shutdown from the red menu icon to turn
offthesystem.
2.The monitor allows the student to view the setup
screenswhichprovideanactiveviewoftheactual
weldingprocessforinstructorsandstudents.The
monitorcanberotatedforeaseofviewing.Make
certainthepowerbuttononthemonitorisON.See

The following user controls (icons) may be dis-
played on the monitor screen.
1.The wire feed speed/amperage dial icon allows
the user to input wire feed speed or amperage
dependingontheVRweldingprocessselected.
2.Thevoltage dial icon allowstheusertoinputthe
weldingvoltage.Thisdialalsoallowsinputoftrim
valueswhenpulseprocessisinuse.
3.Theleftandrightwhite screen select arrow icons
allowtheoperatortocyclethroughvariousscreens.
4.The process selector switch icon is used to
selectthevirtualweldingprocess(GMAW,FCAW,
orSMAW(optional)).
5.Thepolarity selector switch icon isusedtoindi-
cate the welding polarity for any given process
(DC+,DC-,orAC).
6. TheUSB port locatedatthefrontofthemachineis
used to upload software and download user data
fromthesystem.
7.The key switch icon is located on the monitor
screen and allows the instructor to access the
instructor mode which includes the Weldometer
® ,
ToleranceEditor,OptionsandUpdatescreens.
8.Thehigh lighted icons, white arrows and multi-
colored icons perform various functions depend-
inguponthecommandshown.
9.Selecting Back takes the user to the previous
screen.
END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT
TheEndUserLicenseAgreement(EULA)willappear
at start up of machine for the first time. Selecting “I
Agree”willallowaccesstotheVRTEX
® MOBILE.The
machinewillshutdownwhen“IDisagree”isselected.
