Storm Control settings
Broadcast storms may occur when a device on your network is malfunctioning, or if application programs are not
well designed or properly configured. If there is too much broadcast traffic on your network, performance can be
severely degraded or everything can come to complete halt. You can protect your network from broadcast storms
by setting a threshold for broadcast traffic. Any broadcast packets exceeding the specified threshold will then be
dropped.
Web Smart switch interface
To configure Storm Control settings:
1. Click Security, Storm Control.
2. Select the Storm Control type.
3. Select one or more ports to configure.
4. Set the State to “On” and set the threshold rate.
5. Click Apply.

The following parameters are shown on the Storm Control screen:

Storm Type - Select the storm control type. (Broadcast, Multicast, Unknown Unicast, Unknown Multicast)
■
Port - Select port and trunk interfaces. (Port Range: 1-18)
■
State - Enable or disable storm control. (Default: Off)
■
Rate - Threshold as packets per second (pps). (Range: 0-1000000)
