Mounting the SW HDMI LC

The SW HDMI LC switcher can be set on a table, mounted on a rack shelf, or mounted
under a desk, podium, or table.

Tabletop Use

Four self-adhesive rubber feet are included with the SW HDMI LC. For tabletop use, attach
one foot at each corner on the bottom of the unit and place the switcher where desired.

Rack Mounting

UL rack mounting guidelines

The following Underwriters Laboratories (UL) guidelines pertain to the safe installation of
the equipment in a rack.

1.

Elevated operating ambient temperature — If the equipment is installed in a
closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack
environment may be greater than room ambient temperature. Therefore, install the
equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature
(Tma = +122 °F, +50 °C) specified by Extron.

2.

Reduced air flow — Install the equipment in a rack so that the amount of air flow
required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.

3.

Mechanical loading — When mounting the equipment in the rack, ensure that
uneven mechanical loading does not cause a hazardous condition.

4.

Circuit overloading — When connecting the equipment to the supply circuit,
consider the effect that circuit overloading might have on overcurrent protection and
supply wiring. Consider equipment nameplate ratings when addressing this concern.

5.

Reliable earthing (grounding) — Maintain reliable grounding of rack-mounted
equipment. Pay particular attention to supply connections other than direct
connections to the branch circuit (for example, use of power strips).

Rack mounting procedures

The SW HDMI LC switcher can be mounted on a rack shelf or on one of the supports at
the back of the rack.

Mounting on a rack shelf

For optional rack mounting of the SW HDMI LC, the following rack shelves are available:

To mount the switcher on a rack shelf:

1.

If feet were previously attached to the bottom of the unit, remove them.

2.

Mount the switcher on the rack shelf, using two 4-40 x 3/16 inch screws in opposite
(diagonal) corners to secure the unit to the shelf (see the figure below).

3.

Install blank panel(s) or other unit(s) on the rack shelf as desired.
