Micro-banding calibration

Preparations

These are the same preparations as for basic calibration: load media, activate dryer, warm up platen. If the dryer is
in idle mode, reset the dryer temp by choosing an alternative dryer option, setting, then going back and choosing
correct option.

Setting Print Mode

The number of print passes must be set to 6-pass to check for micro-banding.

1

At the Control Panel, press Setup Menu/Print Mode Menu/Print Passes, toggle Next/Prev to 6 and press OK.

All Color Test

1

Press Utility Menu/Service Menu/Diagnostics Menu/Color Test Menu/All Color Test. A color bar will print for
each cartridge.

2

Analyze the calibration test target print (especially the cyan sector) for media overfeed or underfeed.

· To change the Paper Calibration Value: Utility Menu/Calib Menu/Paper Calib Menu/Feed Adjust Menu.

If overfeed is observed as in example A below (white lines/gaps occurring), then decrease the Paper
Calibration Value
(see procedure above) by one or two digits (e.g., from 4806 to 4804) and re-test. Only
change this value by one or two units at a time!

Note: Every time the Paper Calibration Value is changed you will prompted to Save User.

· If underfeed is observed as in example B below (dark lines/overlap occurring), then increase the Paper
Calibration Value
(see procedure in sidebar at left) by one or two digits (e.g., from 4806 to 4808) and re-
test. Only change this value by one or two units at a time!
