Carrier
A company that provides PCS telephone service.
CDMA
Code Division Multiple Access. A spread-
spectrum approach to digital transmission. With
CDMA, each conversation is digitized, and then
tagged with a code. The mobile phone receives
only the signal with the appropriate code.
Coverage area
The geographic area covered by one carrier. If
you travel outside a carrier’s area, you cannot
receive service from that carrier. Also see
“Roam.”
