Using the cursor keys to turn AUTO REDIAL ON.

Press

SET

to register this setting. This turns on the Auto Redial function.

Press

SET

twice. The unit will revert to standby mode.

NOTE:

This function will work only when sending a document in Automatic transmission mode.

To use this mode while faxing, follow this procedure:

Set the document into the feeder and dial the desired fax number using
Automatic transmission method. (Don't use manual transmission method. See
p. 12)

If the number is busy, the LCD will display:

P- MSG CTR
— AUTO ANS
^PASSWORD

AWAITING REDIAL

If the remote fax terminates its previous communication and accept your unit's

call, the transmission will proceed in the normal manner. If the remote unit

remains busy for the duration of all redial attempts, the connection will be

terminated and the LCD will return to the standby mode. You can also terminate
the redial attempts by taking your document out of feeder by pressing

STOP.

When the unit is awaiting redial, if the unit receives another fax call, REDIAL
setting will be cleared and the unit will print out COMMUNICATION ERROR

REPORT.

THE POLLING FUNCTION

The

FAX-220

is capable of performing polling. Polling involves the call for transmission of a

document already in the feeder of a facsimile machine. There are two possibilities:

• You want your unit to be polled

That is, you set a document in the feeder of your unit, another fax unit can call up your

FAX-220

and cause it to transmit that document. Of course, both units have to be set up for polling for

this to happen. Even though it is your unit that does the transmission, the telephone charges

are paid by the receiving unit.

• You want to pòli another unit

That is, you wish to receive a document that is set in the feeder of a remote fax unit.

A. Setting Up Your Unit to be Polled

To prepare your facsimile unit to be polled,

have the a document to be polled In the feeder,

and get the unit into the FUNCTION MODE by pressing

FUNCTION.

1. Press

"4".

The LCD will display:
