My image is

too dark.

There was not

enough light.

Wait for natural lighting

conditions to improve, add

indirect lighting, use the flash

(see page 31), or adjust the

Exposure Compensation

(see

page 39).

The flash was

on, but the

subject was too

far away.

Make sure your subject is within

the flash working distance (see

Appendix B: Specifications

on

page 112). If your subject is

outside the flash working

distance, try using the

Flash Off

setting (see page 31), which will

require a longer exposure.

A light shone

behind the

subject.

Use the

Flash On

setting (see

page 31) to brighten the subject,

or adjust the

Exposure

Compensation

(see page 39).

Your finger

blocked the

flash.

Be sure to move your fingers

away from the flash when you

take a picture.

The scene had

many light-

colored objects,

such as a white

dog in snow.

Increase the

Exposure

Compensation

(

see page 39

)

so the light-colored objects in the

scene will not look “muddy.”
