Dual Channel Isolated Integrated Gate Driver for IGBT/MOSFET

Motor Control Applications

Description

The HCPL-314J drives 2 IGBTs or

MOSFETs directly in this circuit and

provides full regulatory approved

isolation between the power and

control circuits. The output power

supply can be derived from rail to rail

supply by using a bootstrap circuit

illustrated in the “Inverter Design

using Gate Drive and Current Sense

Optocoupler” section. The value of

Rg in the above circuit is chosen to

control the peak gate charge and

discharge current as well as the

output power dissipation.

Performance of Circuit

• Dual in 1 package saves assem-

bly costs.

• Peak output current of 0.4 A

best suited for low and medium

power IGBTs.

• Superior common mode tran-

sient noise immunity: 10 kV/
