Chapter 2
Setting Up the System
This chapter describes how to change the information stored in the
computer’s CMOS RAM. You can select Setup from the OPERATION
MENU, or you can execute the MS-DOS SETUP command.
You must run the Setup program when you turn on your computer for
the first time. You also need to use Setup if you want to:
l
Permanently change the real-time clock’s date or time
l
Change the default settings for the serial (RS-232C) port(s).
The information you define with Setup is stored in the CMOS RAM,
which is backed up by a battery. Whenever you turn on the computer, it
searches the CMOS RAM for the correct installation information. If the
computer discovers a difference between the information in CMOS RAM
and the actual configuration, it prompts you to run the Setup program.
