EnDat encoders
For EnDat encoders, this usually concludes the configuration.
For all other encoder types you must enter more encoder
parameters.
To read the parameters of an EnDat encoder you need only
press the button.
The software now loads the content of the encoder memory
and displays the “operating status” memory area in which you
can see the status of the alarm messages and warnings, and
see which write-protection bits are set.
By double-clicking one of the other memory areas you can call
other important data on the encoder, the zero position of the
machine axis, of the machine, or of the drive. If the value 0 is
not saved in every word in the memory areas

changes to these data or before you replace the encoder with
one with standard settings (e.g. exchange units from
HEIDENHAIN).

area of the encoder manufacturer or about the EnDat interface,
please contact HEIDENHAIN. We will gladly provide you with a
comprehensive description of the respective encoder and of
the EnDat interface.
If a hardware defect makes it impossible to find the data format
of the interface configuration automatically, the “transfer
format for absolute position values” of the EnDat interface
must be entered manually.
