Software Description

Setting up a connection to the encoder

The cable between the encoder and IK 115 must not be
connected or disconnected while under power. Otherwise
the encoder and IK 115 might be damaged.

Check whether the cable between the encoder and IK 115 is
correctly wired. The encoder connection layout is included in
the respected encoder description. The connection layouts of
input X1 of the IK 115 is on page 5. The normal connector
layouts of the connecting cable (compare ID numbers) is on
page 6.

An incorrectly wired connecting cable might damage the
encoder and IK 115.

To be able to support an encoder with the IK 115, the correct
supply voltage must be adjusted and the data interface
configured. There are two ways to do this.

œ The automatic configuration, for which you need the ID

number of the encoder. This method requires, however, that
the ID number is present in the database of the Adjusting
and Testing Software.

œ The manual configuration, for which you must know the

correct supply voltage, the configuration of the data
interface, the clock-pulse group length, etc. You will find
these data in the Specifications of the encoder, in the order
confirmation, or in the documentation supplied with the
encoder.
