13.8 Datum Setting with 3-D Touch Probe
Overview
The following soft-key functions are available for setting the datum
on an aligned workpiece:
Soft key Function Page
Datum setting in any axis with 414
Setting a corner as datum 415
Setting a circle center as datum 417
Center line as datum
Setting the centerline as datum 419
Datum setting in any axis
To select the touch probe function, press the
PROBING POS soft key
Move the touch probe to a position near the touch
point
Use the soft keys to select the probe axis and
direction in which you want to set the datum, such
as Z in direction Z–
Start the probing procedure: Press the machine
START button
Datum: Enter the nominal coordinate and confirm
your entry with the
Set datum soft key, see
"Writing measured values from the touch probe
cycles in a datum table", page 404
Exit the probing function: Press the
END soft key.
HEIDENHAIN only gives warranty for the function of
the probing cycles if HEIDENHAIN touch probes are
used.
