CAUTION:
To ensure proper installation and operation of iMC BIMS, do not install iMC BIMS together with any other
network management products on the same server.
Setting the system time
Checking the system time
Before installing iMC BIMS, check that the system time, date, and time zone settings on the server are
correct. If not, adjust the settings.
After iMC BIMS is started, modifying the system time of the server is discouraged; otherwise, the
following or other unpredictable problems may occur.
•
If you modify the system time to a future time that differs greatly from the current time, the system
takes a long time to process a large amount of data that exceeds the maximum time that the data
can be saved in the database, which affects the current data sampling speed and results in delay.
After the processing of such data is complete, the delay is gradually recovered.
•
If you change the system time to a past time, data with overlapping time may occur. After the
overlapping time is past, data processing becomes normal again.
If you encounter other problems caused by system time modification, for a master server, you are
recommended to restart all master and slave servers; for a slave server, restart only the server.
When deploying the auto-configuration server, make sure that the time zone settings of all servers are the
same. In addition, you are recommended to use the Network Time Protocol (NTP) to synchronize the time
on all servers.
Setting the system time zone
Before installing the iMC BIMS on a host running Windows Server 2003, clear the selection of the
Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes option on the Time Zone tab of the Date and Time
Properties window.
