These alarm types are described in detail below.

there is a problem with that field. Hovering the mouse pointer over the box outlined in red will
bring up more information about the problem.
Bit Alarm: A Bit Alarm is used to alert the user
when a selected bit is on or off (as defined in
View). The following fields are set up in the Bit
Alarm setup window (Figure 28):
• Alarm Name: A user-defined name for the
alarm.
• Cause: The cause of the alarm (typically
used by operators). This field is optional.
• Action: The corrective action
recommended (typically used by
operators). This field is optional.
• Channel: The channel number of the slot
that SDStatus will monitor (0 through 127).
• Slot: The slot number that SDStatus will
monitor (0 through 79).
• Bit: The bit number that SDStatus will
monitor (0 through 15). Note that a slot
contains a 16-bit value.
• Alarm Type: The bit value (On or Off) that
will generate an alarm state. (This is a
drop-down menu.)
• Server: The server to be monitored. (This
is a drop-down menu; servers must be

The Red Alert checkbox causes the alarm to
generate a System Tray notification and also
