13.1.2 CONNECTION TYPE
Uniquely, Input 1 provides control for i) two combination XLR/Phone jack inputs (Mic/Line level
switchable), ii) two 2-channel digital AES/EBU connections, or iii) multi-channel SDI Embedded
digital audio.
Input rows 2 and 3, however, are each comprised of four ¼” phone jack inputs, two BNC
connectors each providing a 2-channel digital AES/EBU connection, along with multi-channel SDI
Embedded digital audio.
Only one Connection Type can be operative for a given audio input group at a moment. A drop-
down Connection Type menu at the top allows selection between the following input options:
Mic 1, 2 (Input 1 only) – low impedance microphones and other common professional
audio sources.
Mic 1, 2 + Phantom (Input 1 only) – microphones (typically condenser mics) requiring
supplementary DC power.
Line – generally consumer audio sources such as CD players, VCRs, etc.
AES/EBU – a professional digital audio protocol connected using BNC connectors.
SDI Embedded – digital audio embedded with digital video transmitted via a Serial
Digital Interface (SDI) connection.
