Sending Data Using an LPD Server
You can send data to the printer using the LPR/LPD (Line Printer Daemon)
protocol (“BSD Spooler”).
This protocol is supported by
•
Unix
•
Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP

The print queue of the host must be named “lp”!
Example
1. Set parameter
INTERF.PARAM. > EASYPLUGINTERPR > Interface
to “LPD server.”
2. Send the print job file (“test.txt”) using the “lpr” command [2].

Enter “lpr ?” to get a list of the command options.

To use an LPD server with Windows NT or Windows 2000, refer to
Microsoft’s Web site.
Troubleshooting
Use the following information if a problem occurs:
•
Ethernet connection: If the yellow LED is not on:
– the network is not connected.
– the network cable is connected to an ISDN instead of a network.
Both outlet types look the same.
– an incorrect cable is connected.
– the hub/switch is defective.
– the printer board is defective.
•
IP parameter: Ping the printer. If you cannot ping the printer, turn the printer
off and then on. Ping every device in the path to the printer - access points,
routers, etc. Any device you cannot ping needs attention.
