Counter Enable, Bit 16

Set bit 16 to 1 to enable the counter to continue to counts up from its present value. Use a

setting of 0 to stop the counter. Enabling the counter using bit 16 does not override the external
counter enable input. Both bit 16 of the control word register and the input must be enabled for the
counter to continue counting. If either is disabled, the counter will hold its last value and stop
counting.
