Postal Lock Installation

NOTE: At this time, the Postal Lock is only available on the EntraGuard Gold with the Alpha Numeric keypad.

Some installations, such as those at a gated community, may require a way to allow access to mail carriers. A postal
lock will allow access to mail carriers through the EntraGuard Gold controller. All EntraGuard Gold Alpha Numeric
telephone entry systems are ready to accept installation of the postal lock. See Figure 1 on page 1 for the location of
where the postal lock may be installed.

NOTE: The installer or building owner/manager must contact their local US Postal Service to arrange for the
installation of a postal lock into the EntraGuard Gold controller.

1. Remove the hole plug on the faceplate of the EntraGuard Gold unit.
2. Remove the two hex nuts from the postal lock-mounting studs. Mount the postal lock on the two studs and secure

with the hex nuts.

When the lock is installed, check to be sure that the pawl of the lock, in its extended position, is depressing SW1 (the
micro switch is wired normally closed). When the mail carrier inserts his key and turns the postal lock, the pawl is
withdrawn and the micro switch will activate the door lock relay for the programmed strike time.

Before the postal switch is ready for operation, you must set the postal switch jumper to the proper position. To set the
postal switch jumper, locate JP1 on the EntraGuard Gold main board (see Figure 3 on page 3). When the jumper is
installed, the postal switch is not enabled. Once a postal lock has been installed, remove the jumper on JP1 to enable the
postal switch mechanism.
