5.3.5 Adjusting the guide plate
In the standard case, the guide plate is in the "Normal" position.
However, for certain uses, it may be beneficial to reduce the opening
angle of the movable crushing plate Ä ‘"Small" setting’ on page 37.
This is done as follows:
1.
Turn the guide pin (3) in such a way that its groove is above the
position screw providing access to the guide pin (3).
2.
Then, pull the guide pin (3) out of its guide. The guide plate is now
no longer locked.
3.
Now, you can turn the crank (5) to move the guide plate to the
"Small" position. To do this, pull out the knurled knob on the crank
(4). That provides access to the crank.
4.
Lock the guide plate with the guide pin (3) by pushing it into the
upper hole (small) and turning it.
5.
To increase the opening angle again, the guide plate must be
switched back to "Normal". This is done as described above.
In the "Small" position, the opening angle of the movable crushing plate
is reduced, which reduces the distribution range of particle sizes and the
size of the particles is more consistent. However, this setting will result in
an extended throughput time.
If the samples are easy to crush, it may be beneficial to reduce the
opening angle for certain uses. For crushing sticky material such as coal,
this setting is not very suitable, however.
For certain materials, it is helpful to pre-crush the material with a
"normal" opening angle and to re-crush the material in a second cycle
with a smaller opening angle.
