Attention! The text in this document has been recognized automatically. To view the original document, you can use the "Original mode".

In exact mode, any result that is not a whole number is displayed in
fractional or symbolic form. For example, 4 ~ 2 will yield 2 (because 2 is a
whole number), while 5-^2 will yield 5/2 (since 2.5 is not a whole
number).
Similarly, sin(n/4) yields
Jl/2
rather than 0.707106781185.
Further examples are given in “Conunand line calculations” on page 2-24.
Exact mode
Note that you can force the calculator to yield an approximate
answer while in exact mode by:
® entering at least one integer as a real nimiber—that is, by
following the integer with a decimal point—see “Integere and
real numbers” on page 2-8, or
* pressing
0
piJM) rather than (ENTffl) to get the result.
Approximate mode
In approximate mode, all numeric results are displayed in floating-point
form where possible.
For example, sin(Tx/4) yields.707106781185 rather than
Jl/
2.
Further examples are given in “Conunand line calculations” on the next
page.
