OctoDome
Before assembling your OctoDome softbox, make sure all compo-
nents are present. You will need:
• OctoDome softbox
• Starlite OctoConnector (or OctoConnector to fit your
strobe light) not included
• Eight rods
• Rear cowling patch
• Inner baffle
• Front diffuser
Note: In most cases, the softbox connector is designed to
connect with your light head in the same manner as your
light head’s accessories. If using a strobe light, make
sure your OctoConnector is the correct one designed for
your light.
1. Place softbox with all four rods into their sleeves on a
flat, clean surface with all 8 rods installed. Undo all Velcro
®
Quick Release flaps (see Figure 6).
2. Notice that the connector has nine receptacle holes will
be used. NOTE: Photoflex rectangular softboxes use only
four of these receptacle holes. Position connector at the
center of the softbox. The connector front (with the
rounded screw heads) should face away from the softbox
and the connector back (with the bolt nuts) should face
into the softbox.
Inserting rods into the connector
Notice that each corner of the connector has a rod and
receptacle hole. Follow the order shown inthe preceding
image when connecting rods to the connector. NOTE: you
will insert one rod into a tapped hole.
3. Position the connector at the center of the OctoDome.
Insert the first rod.
4. Insert the second rod into the hole diagonally opposite the
first hole. Insert the third through eighth rods following the
order of the diagrammed image above.
5. Use one hand to pull QRC flap over rod tip while pushing
the rod into place with your thumb.
6. Secure each flap to its Velcro
®
counterpart. Repeat this
process for the remaining corners.
NOTE: For proper dome shape to be achieved all rods must
be pushed in completely.
