OctoDome 3
Before assembling your OctoDome softbox, make sure all
components are present. You will need:
• OctoDome softbox
• Starlight OctoConnector (or OctoConnector to fit your strobe light
- sold separately)
• Eight rods
• Outer rear cowling patch
• Inner rear cowling patch
• Inner baffle
• Face diffuser
NOTE: In most cases, the softbox connector is designed to
connect with your light head in the same manner as your light
head’s accessories. If using a strobe light, make sure your
OctoConnector is the correct one designed for your light.
Assemble the Softbox to the Connector
1. Place softbox face down on a flat, clean surface.
2. Notice that the connector has eight rod receptacle holes
which will be used. NOTE: Photoflex rectangular soft boxes
use only four of these receptacle holes.
3. Position connector at the center of the softbox. The
connector front (with the rounded screw heads) Fig. 3
should face away from the softbox and the connector back
(with the bolt nuts) should face into the softbox.
Inserting rods into the connector
NOTE: Each corner of the connector has a rod receptacle
hole. Some of the holes are tapped but will be used.
4. Insert the first rod.
5. Insert the second rod into the hole diagonally opposite the
first hole.
6. Insert the third rod through the eighth rods
Attaching the rear cowling patch
NOTE: There are two rear patch components
7. Line up the Velcro® of the Gold/Silver inner patch with the
corresponding Velcro® of the outer patch interior.
8. Position the rear patch assembly over the corresponding
Velcro® on the rear of the OctoDome.
9. Press the cowling assembly in place around the rear of the
softbox.
