Installing the
Thermocouple/Millivolt Input
Module
This chapter gives you information on:
•
calculating the chassis power requirement
•
choosing the module’s location in the I/O chassis
•
keying a chassis slot for your module
•
wiring the input module’s field wiring arm
•
installing the input module
Before installing your input module in the I/O chassis you must:
Action required:
Refer to:
Calculate the power requirements of all modules in each chassis.
Calculate Power Requirements
Determine where to place the module in the I/O chassis.
Module Location in the I/O Chassis
Key the backplane connector in the I/O chassis.
Module Keying
Make connections to the wiring arm.
Connecting Wiring and Grounding
The thermocouple/mV input module is sensitive to electrostatic
discharge.
!
ATTENTION: Electrostatic discharge can damage
integrated circuits or semiconductors if you touch
backplane connector pins. Follow these guidelines
when you handle the module:
•
Touch a grounded object to discharge static potential
•
Wear an approved wrist-strap grounding device
•
Do not touch the backplane connector or
connector pins
•
Do not touch circuit components inside the module
•
If available, use a static-safe work station
•
When not in use, keep the module in its
static-shield bag
